New Mexico United Academy holds Signing Day
WELL, AFTER POSTING TWO BACK TO BACK WINS IN LEAGUE PLAY THIS PAST WEEKEND, THE NEW MEXICO UNITED ACADEMY RETURNED TO THE DUKE CITY TO RECOGNIZE EIGHT OF THEIR OWN PLAYERS. JAMAL BYNUM, COLE TIBBETTS, MICAH MADRID AND DEL NESSEN. VELASCO IS MIGUEL REGINA ANDRE WILL BLAZE, BAYLOR, BROOKER AND MYLES MERRITT. EACH SIGNED A NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT THIS AFTERNOON AT THE UNITED TEAM STORE TO PLAY COLLEGIATE SOCCER. UNITED PLAYERS SPOKE ON ALL THAT AT THE ACADEMY TEAM HAS DONE FOR THEM. WHILE STAFF SAY THEY CAN’T WAIT TO SEE EACH PLAYER GROW IN THE FUTURE INDIVIDUALLY, IT’S BLESSED MY LIFE BEYOND WHAT I THOUGHT IT COULD. ALL. I MEAN, I’M GETTING A VERY GOOD SCHOLARSHIP TO GO PLAY AT A VERY GOOD SCHOOL NOT ONLY ME, BUT SEVEN OTHER OF THE PLAYERS HERE. SO IT’S DEFINITELY A BIG STATEMENT FOR ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, JUST TO REALLY PUT UNITED ON THE MAP AND SHOW LIKE, YOU KNOW, WHAT IT CAN DO FOR ITS PLAYERS. I THINK WHEREVER THEY END UP, AS LONG AS THEY’RE HAPPY, I THINK THAT WE DID OUR PART. OBVIOUSLY, WE WANT THEM TO ASPIRE TO GREATNESS AND ALL THOSE THINGS, BUT I THINK THAT IS THEM BUILDING IT. After posting back-to-back wins in league play this past weekend, the New Mexico United Academy team returned to the Duke City on Monday afternoon to host a signing day.Eight Academy players signed their National Letter of Intent to play college soccer in front of family, friends and teammates:Andres Robles - University of Central ArkansasJamal Bynum, Miles Merritt - University of Incarnate WordMiguel Regino, Denilson Velasquez - Utah TechCole Lobitz - Fort Lewis CollegeMikah Madrid - UNLVBaela Brucker - IUPUIThose in attendance spoke on all that the Academy team has done for them while others are excited to see their success in the future."Individually it's blessed my life beyond what I thought it could," said UNLV commit, Mikah Madrid. "I'm getting a very good scholarship to play at a very good school. Not only me, but seven other players here so it's definitely a big statement for Albuquerque and it really puts United on the map to show what it can do for its' players.""I think wherever they end up as long as they're happy I think that we did our part," said NM United Education Liaison, Orlando Ramirez. "Obviously we want them to aspire to greatness and all those things but I think that is them building it, whatever their greatness may be."

Those in attendance spoke on all that the Academy team has done for them while others are excited to see their success in the future.
