New Mexico United Academy holds Signing Day
After posting back-to-back wins in league play this past weekend, the New Mexico United Academy team returned to the Duke City on Monday afternoon to host a signing day.
Eight Academy players signed their National Letter of Intent to play college soccer in front of family, friends and teammates:
Andres Robles - University of Central Arkansas
Jamal Bynum, Miles Merritt - University of Incarnate Word
Miguel Regino, Denilson Velasquez - Utah Tech
Cole Lobitz - Fort Lewis College
Mikah Madrid - UNLV
Baela Brucker - IUPUI
Those in attendance spoke on all that the Academy team has done for them while others are excited to see their success in the future.
"Individually it's blessed my life beyond what I thought it could," said UNLV commit, Mikah Madrid. "I'm getting a very good scholarship to play at a very good school. Not only me, but seven other players here so it's definitely a big statement for Albuquerque and it really puts United on the map to show what it can do for its' players."
"I think wherever they end up as long as they're happy I think that we did our part," said NM United Education Liaison, Orlando Ramirez. "Obviously we want them to aspire to greatness and all those things but I think that is them building it, whatever their greatness may be."
